The Myth of "Elite Liberal Media" - Part I

MSNBC/CHRIS MATTHEWS & HARDBALL: 388,000

These telling numbers prove -- yet again -- that when Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, Sean Hannity or Bill O'Reilly talk about the "elite liberal media", they must be smoking a liberal amount of marijuana. There is always bias in media: that much we can't change. But to continue to accuse the nation of having an elite media with a "liberal" bias is patently wrong. These numbers show that most Americans are tuning into Fox News, a channel with a rather obvious conservative bias.
I'll be posting more in the coming weeks about the myth of the "elite liberal media", giving you more specifics about how this particular lie is a bunch of crap being spoon-fed to America in order to create division, fear and resentment.

The elite liberal media is alive and well. It begins with the New York Times, L.A. Times, and virtually every other major newspaper in the country. Then you have ABC,CBS,NBC,NPR,PBS and every cable news outlet, with the exception of Fox news. 90% of the editorial boards are liberal as well. These outlets account for the main source of news for the overwelming majority of Americans. That is why only around 20% of Americans identify themselves as "liberal," yet the liberal party(democrats) garner nearly 50% of the vote every 4 years. Indubitably, the "elite liberal media" not only exists, but it serves as the offensive team of the left, while the democrats serve as the defensive team of the left...and I teach poly sci.
